My name is Lucas Stewart and I am the newest addition to PatraCompany. However, this isn’t my first time working with PatraCompany. Last summer Paul offered me a job helping out with shooting and editing videos for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, and after a few seconds of getting over the excitement I agreed to take the position.

Background:
I was born and raised in Durham, Maine where I attended Durham Elementary/Middle School. I later attended Brunswick High School in Brunswick, Maine and it was in my last year there that I took my first class in video production. After that class it was very clear to me that this was the career I wanted, and not long after that I was accepted in to the New England School of Communications. Coincidentally, this was the school that both Paul and Travis had attended.

Experience:
In my years at NESCom, I have taken classes such as; Digital Photography, Advanced Lighting for Digital Film Making, Advanced Compositing/Editing, and Electronic News Gathering. I have also learned to work with top of the line cameras, lights, software, and other essential tools to creating professional video. As of right now I am heading into my senior year at NESCom and will be working with PatraCompany throughout the summer. I look forward to working with all of the amazing clients that PatraCompany has gained and will do nothing less than uphold the high standards of quality and customer satisfaction that this company demands.

This is a music video I created for a fellow student at NESCom:

Part 1 :: Converting your Footage

Demonstrates how to convert both your 1920×1080 24 frame footage and your 1280×720 60 frame footage shot with your canon 7D. By using mpeg stream clip and converting your footage, it eliminates the rendering process in Final Cut Pro unlike using your original, not converted raw footage.

Part 2 :: Conforming your Footage

Demonstrates how to conform your 1280×720 60 frame footage to work in the same timeline as your 24 frame footage. By using Final Cut Studios cinema tools, you are able to conform your 59.94 footage to work seamlessly with 23.98 footage in the same sequence. This will allow you to achieve the smooth slow motion effect you want when mixing the different formats shot on your 7D. No matter what format you shoot with your 7D, you can conform all of your footage to playback normally in your timeline.

We are in the middle of a project with the Maine Warden Service that will go out to the public as a hunter safety PSA. Along with Colonel Joel Wilkinson, 6th generation land owner Kevin Hancock of Hancock Lumber will stand on screen and advise the public on the importance of hunter/landowner relations. Our local weather forecast for the shoot was downpours and high winds, leaving our options for settings fairly limited. We landed in a storage building at the back of the lot that was experiencing water leak issues of it’s own. With some careful placement of lighting equipment, a nice “lumber” themed backdrop, and some creative camera placement the end result will come out great! Here are a few photos for you to check out from the shoot.

It feels pretty good to get a big project finished, and there is no better feeling than seeing the final product. This past week UPS dropped off 30 boxes of DVD’s. With 100 DVD’s in each box were now in possession of 3000 MEMA Narrowband videos to be delivered to the agency early this week. Although we may not have them in our hands for long, it’s still pretty cool to look at the pile of boxes knowing just how much time and effort went into the making of this DVD. If you haven’t had the chance to watch the project yet, please take a few minutes to do so by going to our MEMA client page.

With the resent completion of the MEMA project titled, “Narrowband”, we have now set our sights on the web. This week has consisted of building a brand new site for PatraCompany, as well as finishing up the Wildlife section of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife’s website. Don’t let the word “section” fool you. The wildlife portion of this website is massive, and at the moment our web director Kyle Richards is hard at work.

Along with that we have Factory Connection updates to make, as well as three new sites that are right around the corner. Magnum Truck Racks needs a rebuild, and possibly a brand new URL so that the site can be found easier by search engines and customers. An ice shack web site build, as well as a new site for a construction rental business out of Auburn Maine. Can’t forget the MOTOdUMMY updates!!!

Have a great week…
